RAMADAN – 5 MUST VISIT PLACES IN DELHI THAT SERVE AWESOME IFTAR FOOD!

The month of Ramadan, also transliterated as Ramazan or Ramadhan is celebrated throughout India, and the capital city – Delhi has some great food for all the iftar celebration indulgences. Delhi has remained one of the main cities during the rise of the Mughal Empire and the architectural brilliance of the Mughal era can still be seen in various monuments in the city and nearby.

This Islamic holy month of fasting, started on 18th June this year and would continue for 30 days until 17th of July. Iftar is the meal which is eaten after sunset during Sawm, the fasting which occurs during the month of Ramadan in Muslim tradition.  Full day of abstaining from proper food calls for an incessant and good meal. So here is a list of places in Delhi, you must visit during this holy month, fasting or not, for a mouth watering experience!

1. JAMA MASJID – Al Jawahar and Aslam chicken corner

Jama Masjid is probably one of the finest places where you can get amazing food during iftar time. After a religious and spiritual moment at Jama Masjid you just cannot afford to miss these two places that serve some really nice food.

Famous for : Chicken Changezi, kebabs and chicken jahangiri!

Location : Easily accessible, opposite gate no. 1, Jama Masjid. Nearest metro station being Chandni Chowk.

 

Aslam chicken corner, also known as walled city favourite is very famous for its unusual interpretation of butter chicken. Good ambience and great food are its specialties.aslam chicken corner

Famous for : Seekh kababs and butter chicken ofcourse!

Location : Opposite gate no. 1, Jama Masjid.

 

2. KARIM’S – Nizamuddinkarim's

You can any day go to any branch of Karim’s and have amazing chicken. However you just cannot miss divine qawwali sessions at Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin every Thursday.

Famous for : Kebabs, mutton korma and phirni!

Cost for two : 800 Rs. (aprrox.)

Location : Nizamuddin west, New delhi.  Nearest metro station being Jangpura.

 

3. KHAN CHACHA : Khan market

This is a highly recommended place for all the roll lovers. Mouthwatering and delicious food for all the people who can’t go to old Delhi.

Famous for : Mutton burra, seekh rolls and paneer rolls!

Location : Khan market, New Delhi. Nearest metro station being Khan market.

 

4. KAKKE DI HATTI – Chandni Chowk

A special place for all the vegetarians out there. Chandni chowk, despite of having some really cheap shopping outlets also has some great food to offer. You cannot in a any way miss it!

Famous for : Dal makhani and soya chaps.

Cost for two : 400 Rs. (approx.)

Location : Church mission road, Chandni Chowk. Nearest metro station being Chandni Chowk.

5. AMEER SWEET HOUSE – Jama masjid

For all the people with a sweet tooth and the proper street style food , this place is perfect. Certainly one of the best mithaai dukans in Jama Masjid.

Famous for : Gulab jamun, karachi halwa, ladoo, samosa, kachoris and everything!

Cost for two : 200 rs. (approx.)

Location: Near Jama Masjid.

These are just few of the gems and there is a  lot more to Delhi. However these are some of the places that you have to visit and have a memorable experience with your loved one’s in this very holy month of Ramadan.
