The season that you all have been waiting for is here!
Winter comes as a relief from the sweaty and humid summer days, especially for those who live in Delhi. It is the season of snuggling inside your blankets, drinking hot cups of coffee or tea, sleeping, and lazing around the house. But, don’t waste it by simply being inside. Do not let the thought of the chill stop you from going outside. Put on a warm jacket and get out of the house, explore, and make the most of this holiday season.
Here is a list of things that will make “Dilli ki Sardi” enjoyable to the fullest.
- VISIT A MONUMENT
Winter is the ideal season to visit a historical site. Go early in the morning to get the best out of it and to avoid crowds. A lot of historical sites are surrounded by gardens, you can just sit, enjoy the fresh air, and contemplate, away from the hustle-bustle of the city.
- GO TO AN OUTDOOR CAFÉ
There is nothing better than sitting under the sun with a cup of coffee or tea, on a chilly winter day. Go alone or with a friend. The quiet allows you to indulge in a conversation without any interference. A lot of cafes in Delhi even have the option of rooftop seating like in Hauz Khas village, with a view of the lake, or in Connaught Place with a view of the city.
- READ IN THE OPEN
Go to a nearby park or even your balcony, and take a book along. It feels great to sit outside with nothing but a novel and be transported to a world of endless possibilities.
- OUTDOOR MARKETS
Some places are just too hot to go to during summers like Dilli Haat, Sarojini Nagar, Janpath etc. So winter comes as a solution to all your worries. Go with your friends to these places and have a grand time.
- GO ON A FOOD WALK
Winter is the perfect time of the year for a foodie. There are a lot of food festivals. Also walking automatically sounds appealing in this season. The streets of Old Delhi offer a variety of delicacies.
Year round, lots of events keep happening all over your city. You miss them either due to work or “it’s too hot to go out”. This holiday season is when you can catch up and be a part of various cultural events; be it a play, or an art exhibition, or some music festival. Keep an eye out for them.
I don’t mean running on a treadmill inside a gym but working out in the open. Go out for a jog or for a game of football, or badminton or anything with your friends. It helps you keep warm and you don’t sweat that easily. Even yoga in the open, under the sun, is refreshing as well as fun.
- EAT ICE CREAM
Jo mazza sardiyo mein ice-cream khane ka hai vo kisi aur cheez mein nahi
You all must have heard this or some version of this. Well, it’s true. So go out for a scoop of ice cream or load up your fridge with ice cream tubs. Eat it with some warm brownie or some hot chocolate syrup, or both!
Winter comes and goes really fast. So don’t miss it by staying home. Make the most of it!
