Nowadays, when a song hits the chartbusters and shatters all the world records, one cannot ascertain which aspect of it made it so popular that fans are flocking in numbers for its concert.
Well, I personally feel that lyrics are the essence of any song. The best lyrics don’t just speak to the listeners but make them feel like they are a part of the song.
Here are some of our favourite love songs from the 21st century.
- MIRROR by Justin TimberlakeAren’t you somethin’ to admire?
‘Cause your shine is somethin’ like a mirror
And I can’t help but notice
You reflect in this heart of mine
If you ever feel alone and
The glare makes me hard to find
Just know that I’m always parallel on the other side
Who doesn’t love Justin Timberlake?
His charming personality which just “can’t stop the feeling”, his acting skills, dance moves and of course his songs which we just can’t help but dance to, makes him a complete entertainer and a heart-throb sensation.
2. NEW DIVIDE by Linking Park
Give me reason
To fill this hole
Connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies
Across this new divide
We all must have seen guys in our class mugging up the lyrics and singing “Numb” and “In the End”.
The best thing which attracts me personally to Linkin Park is, and I mean this literally, their way of breaking the guitar at the end of every song and that’s how they believe in “Breaking the habit”. We all have followed their motto of becoming “less like you and more like me”.
3. CLOCKS By Coldplay
Come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease?
Whether you are in love or not, heartbroken or not, there has been a Coldplay song that can always “Fix you”.
It has always been worth waiting for years to hear a new Coldplay record with that same old enthusiasm.
4. ROLLING IN THE DEEP by Adele
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can’t help feeling
We could have had it all
(You’re gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
What can we say about this exceptionally amazing artist?
Every time she comes up with a song, a Grammy is already there to adorn her efforts with. Her lyrics are thoughtful, heart touching, and emotional and that’s why millions of listeners around the world connect with them.
5. MAPS by Maroon 5
I like to think we had it all
We drew a map to be a better place
But on that road I took a fall
Oh baby why did you run away?
This “Fabulous Fivesome” has always won our hearts with their versatility, be it their romantic ballads or angry disenchanted rock songs. One can always groove to their “Moves like jagger”.
6. SKYSCAPER by Demi Lovato
As the smoke clears I awaken,
And untangle you from me
Would it make you feel better
To watch me while I bleed?
All my windows, still are broken
But I’m standing on my feet
This teen sensation has always inspired us to fight back and live the life to its fullest. Whenever you feel down, there is always a Demi Lovato’s song that can surely cheer you up, so perk up and “let it go”.
7. SOMEBODY by Enrique
Cause I, I walk the streets alone
I hate being on my own
And everyone can see that I really fell
And I’m going through hell
Thinking about you with somebody else
Well, we all have had a crush on him whether you reveal it or not and guys you have to admit that he is “hot”.
His charismatic looks and tender voice make him our “Hero”.
8. E.T (SUPERNATURAL) by Katy Perry
You’re so supersonic
Wanna feel your powers,
Stun me with your lasers,
Your kiss is cosmic,
Every move is magic
We all love her elaborate costumes and props she flaunts boldly in her videos and live concerts. Her E.T, surely is a visual treat to the eyeballs.
9. ALL OF ME by John Legend
What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You’ve got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t pin you down
What’s going on in that beautiful mind?
I’m on your magical mystery ride
And I’m so dizzy, don’t know what hit me, but I’ll be alright.
John Legend, through his songs, has made his way into our hearts. He wants us to know him beyond his music and because of his music and that’s the thing we love.
10. THINKING OUT LOUD by Ed Sheeran
When my hair’s all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don’t remember my name
When my hands don’t play the strings the same way
I know you still love me the same.
Last but not the least is our adorable “ginger singer” Ed Sheeran. This song definitely proves that he can get the ‘hell’ out of any song. If you don’t know about this worldwide phenomenon then you really need to come out of your shells.
